That's a polish - albeit mild, it's a polish. It will smooth the matte finish on the satin and remove some of it as well as make the finish uneven where you polish it.

Bright nickel is actually copper plating on the gun, plus nickel plating over the copper, so it adds a bit of thickness, doesn't work well in tight spaces. Flitz has something in common with the lemon juice recipes - an acid base that will really take the nickel off. I would avoid it, honestly. There is one other polish available that does a great job, really - but it is very, very, very expensive.
