WebFeb 5, 2024 · It appears to me the John was speaking to the Greek people of the Roman Empire. He was trying to reconcile Greek philosophy with Jewish beliefs. In the beginning was the Logos (reason, the force that gives meaning and holds creation together), the Logos was with God (the Jewish God of the universe), God was the Logos (reconciled).
