WebAlaska in December. My husband and I are planning a trip to Alaska from December 18-31 ( Return on Jan 1). We plan to visit Anchorage and Fairbanks; do a tour to the Arctic circle, a northern lights tour, probably a day at Chena Hot Springs (not high on our priority), and then chill in Anchorage. May be try out Snowshoeing and dog sleighing. WebIf *I* were going in December, I think I'd fly to Anchorage for a couple of days (the drive an hour south of there is extremely beautiful, summer or winter, and you could maybe do a snowmobile tour and/or skiing in Girdwood). Then take the train (it's reportedly a lovely trip in winter) or fly to Fairbanks and rent another car there for day trips.
